Silicone oil is an inert substance commonly used in syringe manufacturing.
Silicone oil is a common product used to coat syringes to ensure they glide easily. Occasionally, during an intravitreal injection, the silicone can become dislodged and injected into the vitreous cavity. This case demonstrates a significant amount of silicone oil as result of one intravitreal injection. The arrows highlight a few oil bubbles but many more can be seen.
