Toxoplasmosis is a common ocular infection assiociated with the protozoa Toxoplasma gondii.
Toxoplasmosis is a common cause of infection within the retina. The presentation is variable but typically involves pronounced vitritis in immunocompetent patients. Vitritis photographically is noted as a general blurring of the image. In the top image you will note vitritis plus the nidus of the infection (blue circle) with some artifacts scattered throughout the image. The bottom image notes resolution of the infection with a clear ocular media along with the presence of a chorioretinal scar.
