This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which the EyeCarePD.com website collects, uses, maintains and discloses Personal Information collected from users (each, a “User”) of the EyeCarePD.com website (“Site”). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by EyeCarePD inc. (“EyeCarePD”). We may update this policy from time to time so we invite Users to consult this page on a regular basis.
“Personal Information” means the information used to identify an individual and all other information governed by privacy laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada) and the Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Quebec).
What we collect and store
Purchases
When purchasing a sample course or other product or service from us we will ask Users to provide information including their name, billing address, profession, email address, and account username. This information will be used to:
- Create your account on this site;
- Assign the purchase to your already created account;
- Provide educational and marketing messages during and after the purchase has expired.
We do not collect or store any credit card information. This is collected directly by our payment gateway.
We generally store information about Users for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, purchases made on this Site are stored for 10 years for tax and accounting purposes. This may include User name, email address and billing address.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics for website visitor analytics. We do not log any Personal Information of Site visitors; IP addresses are anonymized, “Do Not Track” headers and global opt out cookies are honored, and custom data tracking is disabled.
Cookies
Our Site may use “cookies” to enhance User experience. A User’s web browser places cookies on their hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them.

Who in our company has access to stored Personal Information
Members of our team have access to the information Users provide us. For example, administrators can access:
- Order information such as what was purchased, when it was purchased, and;
- Customer information such as name, email address, and billing information.
Team members who require this information have access to it in order to provide user support. They are committed toward EyeCarePD to respect this Privacy Policy.
What we share with others
We share Personal Information with third parties who help us provide our service, including:
- Stripe: We accept payments through Stripe. When processing payments, some User data will be passed to Stripe, including Personal Information and information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information. - Intercom: We use Intercom to provide user support, send messages such as newsletters to our users. Please see the Intercom Privacy Policy for more details.
If your employer purchased licences for you to use, we may share the following data with them:
- Which courses you have started
- The % complete on each course
Non-personal identification information
We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information does not constitute Personal Information and may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Sites, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilized and other similar information. It may also include demographic information or general statistics.
Personal information
We may collect Personal Information from users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when users visit our site, send us a message from a contact form, place an order, subscribe to the newsletter, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site.
Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, mailing address, credit card information. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously as long as they don’t create a Subscriber account (required for all purchases, as per the Standard Terms and Conditions). We will collect Personal Information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply Personal Information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities.

How we use collected information
EyeCarePD may collect and use User Personal Information for the following purposes:

The information provided helps us respond to customer service requests, communicate with Users and support needs more efficiently. - To personalize User experience
We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Site. - To improve our Site
We may use feedback provided to improve our products and services and monitor the Site performance. - To process payments
We may use the information Users provide about themselves when placing an order to process that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service or process the payment. - To run a promotion, contest, survey or other Site feature
To send Users information they agreed to receive about topics we think will be of interest to them and to analyze User habits and market trends. - To send periodic emails
We may use the email address to send User information and updates pertaining to their order, their Subscriber account or the Site. How we protect information
We adopt appropriate Personal Information collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of Personal Information, as well as username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site.
Sensitive and private data exchange between the Site and its Users (unless it’s a public section of the Site like a blog, social media or forum) happens over an SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures.
Our data breach policy
While we take information security very seriously, no website is immune from potential data breaches. In the unlikely event of a Personal Information breach, we will notify Users in a timely fashion, in keeping with the privacy laws of the affected Users.
Public sections of the Site
Users may have the option to post or upload content on public sections of the Site, which can be viewed by all other Users and any person who accesses the Site. Each User should be careful when uploading or posting such content and should avoid sharing Personal Information, since we cannot control who will view it and how it will be used.

We do not sell, trade, or rent a User’s Personal Information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and Users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above. We may use third-party service providers to help us operate our business and the Site or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or surveys. We may share Personal Information with these third parties for those limited purposes provided that Users have given us consent.

Users may find advertising or other content on our Site that link to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors and other third parties. Transfer to other countries

Applicable law
This Privacy Policy is governed by Quebec (Canada) law and all claims and disputes will have to be referred exclusively to courts in the Province of Quebec (Canada), district of Montreal. In some jurisdictions, the laws applicable in the User’s jurisdiction may also apply when they are absolute or mandatory, including when they prohibit the Quebec courts as choice of forum.
Language

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
We encourage visitors and users to frequently check this page for any changes to our Privacy Policy. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the change log below, and, in some cases, we may provide additional notice (like adding a statement to our homepage, or sending Subscribers a notification through email).
