Asteroid Hyalosis

63-year-old man with clinically visible asteroid hyalosis. The OCT demonstrates the refractile calcium bodies (green arrows) typical of this condition. Based on optical reflectivity the asteroid bodies appear to be in front of, within, and behind the retina. Nevertheless, the asteroid bodies are only in the vitreous, and this abnormal appearance is an artifact of OCT testing.
